Creo is a family of product development software developed by PTC that supports design for discrete manufacturers. The suite consists of specialized apps that deliver distinct capabilities tailored to specific user roles. It serves as a leading 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE solution used by design engineers for product simulation, mechanical design, analysis testing, tooling creation, design communication, and manufacturing applications.
Engineers typically start with Creo Parametric for seamless parametric and direct modeling needs. During modeling and assembly activities, the software does not take advantage of many CPU cores, meaning the best performance is achieved with the fastest top core speed. The Intel Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 processors are preferred over Xeon CPUs because they deliver the best performance to price ratio for these single-threaded tasks. Conversely, simulation and rendering tasks will take full advantage of multiple cores and hyper-threading capabilities. The Ultra 9 represents the optimal value for these workloads by offering 8 Performance-cores, 16 Efficient-cores, and 32 threads with a high clock spread.
To optimize these mixed workloads, @Xi provides professionally overclocked systems favoring either an absolute top core speed or all cores at a higher frequency to deliver balanced performance. Hardware-assisted OpenGL capabilities are a strict requirement for the software, so only Nvidia RTX professional graphics cards are offered. Solid state drives are also necessary, with NVMe M.2 drives being the recommended choice. For budgets and requirements extending beyond standard high-end configurations, Threadripper Pro series and Xeon processors can be custom quoted to handle maximum workloads.
