The Xi 600 MTower SP is a Pentium III 600-MHz system with MMX multimedia enhancement technology. It comes standard with 256MB of memory and is upgradeable to 384 MB using SDRAM memory modules. Xi installs a 21.5-GB hard drive, a CD-ROM drive, and a 56K fax/modem. Xi Computer Corp is an AutoCAD® Workstation manufacturer.

The 3Dlabs Permedia3 Create AGP graphics accelerator supports resolutions up to 1900 x 1200 pixels. Two USB ports are located on the back of the Xi 600. It also includes a Creative Labs 128 PCI Sound Card. Xi provides a three-year hardware and one-year on-site warranty.

NSTL assesses the performance of each system with a suite of applications-based and low-level InterMark tests. To calculate performance scores we compare the results of each test against the performance of a standard machine (for desktop systems we use a Pentium 100MHz commercial grade desktop) and generate a ratio based on a score of 1 for the standard machine. Thus a score of 2 means that a system is twice as fast as our test standard. Scores above 1.5 indicate a fast machine.
